Marlene's appliqued hearts

Okay, so I took the picture upside down.  Sigh.
Marlene hand appliqued all these solid hearts and I quilted it with the Ribbon Romance pantograph by Patricia Ritter.

Kathy fussy cut the poinsettias to place them in the center of the blocks.  It's quilted with Holly Berries pantograph from Urban Elementz.

Gross misnomer

Instruction "manual"?  I think not.

"When Jordyn's Tired"

Hey, what do you know--one of mine!!  I started with a cute little cupcake print, since I knew a girl was on the way, and the Pure Baby Boy pattern from Moda Bake Shop.  I prefer the baby quilts I make to be larger than normal so they get used through the toddler years.  I think this one ended up 42" x 52".  I matched fabrics in my stash to the colors in the cupcake print and cut 2.5" strips.  I added an extra two columns of squares but left off the solid strip.

Jordyn's father, Kyle, works with me at my day job where we sell greenhouse supplies.  So I knew I wanted a flower in there somewhere.  I'd also been admiring the quilting of modern quilter Angela Walters and prefer to try something new on my OWN quilts.  LOVE this combination spiral/pebble design.  I added the huge freehand flower on the right hand side.

Kyle is also a Nascar fan.  Please go down a few photos and click on the picture he had taken of his daughter--in a TIRE!  How cute is that?!?  So I printed the photo on fabric and appliqued it as the center of the flower.  And hence, the name of the quilt--"When Jordyn's Tired"!  LOL!

Buena Vista

My family moved to Buena Vista, Virginia in the early 1970's.  My mother, and one sister and her husband, still live there.  Here's a picture of a sign on one of the buildings when you first come into town.  The date on the sign is 1971, and I think it still holds true : )

"Butterflies Around the World" for Althea

When my daughter Erin got married, one of her bridesmaids was Bonnye.  This quilt was made for Bonnye's daughter Althea, in her requested colors of pink and brown.  It was started in hopes of giving it to Bonnye before the birth, but in actuality, Althea had already turned two by the time I finished it (I have no good excuse, just life getting in the way).  Good thing I generally make large baby quilts, huh?  This one is 48" x 52", so I think it should carry her through her toddler years.  I thought I had a picture of the finished quilt, but the best I could find was one with the binding halfway on.

Taking a bath

I took this picture in February 2008 at Bayside Quilting in Olympia, Washington.  I guess they wanted their customers to know they were "taking a bath" on the clearance fabrics!  Don't you just love the red tub?
